The Happy Tongue is by far the most successful Bombers Bits Design.

It is a solid mouthpiece uniquely ported to give maximum tongue relief and curved to be softer on the bars and slow in applying tongue pressure.

The Happy Tongue would be a good place to start if your horse is:

  • Shaking its head
  • Sticking its tongue out
  • Sucking its tongue back and as a result, making an intermittent coughing noise
  • Trying to put its tongue over the bit
  • Going behind the bit to avoid the contact
  • Snatching the reins forward and down

The rider will know immediately if this is the correct bit, as a horse with a sensitive tongue will finally begin to work into and accept the contact.

The Eggbutt cheekpiece prevents pinching of the lips and gives a slightly more solid feel against the side of the face. It also prevents the bit from being pulled through the mouth. The release is slower and also introduces some poll pressure. The eggbutt provides much-needed stability to the inconsistent horse.

NOTE: This style should sit snug on the horse, so the port does not move sideways. over the tongue and bars of the horse's mouth.

Happy Tongue, Happy Customer

I was actually buying this bit because I had one horse in it already and when I tried it for my other horse, realized I'd need two. but, I hadn't; shopped with Dapper Horse before and was very impressed with their prompt shipping and customer service. Very *sweet* and thoughtful inclusion of two mints for my horses. Will recommend to friends, and definitely will shop there again.

Excellent and Legal Bit for Eventing

This bit has been a wonderful find for my mare, who I show in 3 day eventing. She had a bad habit of opening her mouth regardless of the bit. I tried many other bits, and the ones that offered tongue relief worked the best, but were not legal for the dressage phase. This bit offers my mare enough tongue relief, and is also legal for the dressage phase according to the latest USEA rules!

Excellent for the extremely responsive

Yes, my mare isn't fighting the bit like the others I've tried. Highly recommend for the fat tongue, sensitive horses.
