Key Features

The Full Cheek cheekpiece will prevent pinching on the sides of the mouth, and the extended pins above and below the bit, firstly prevent the bit being pulled through the mouth and secondly aid guiding the horse’s head which is great for schooling purposes. As with the Eggbutt, the release is slower than the loose ring and also introduces light poll pressure.

The Elliptical is stronger than the Control Plate due to it concentrating pressure onto a smaller surface area. This bit will suit a horse that pushes the bit with its tongue. The horse will draw its head back and tuck its chin in, finding a better balance of control.

Cheekpiece

The cheekpiece is available in 2 sizes, standard and a slightly smaller model for a pony.

Mouthpiece

The mouthpiece can be optionally more curved, creating a more comfortable bend  than the conventional, which reduces pinch and spreads pressure points around the bars.

Just right!

I bought the Bombers Full Cheek Elliptical to replace the Korsteel French link Full Cheek snaffle bit. I like the sweet iron composition of the Bombers bit...my small horse didn't like the thickness and weight of the Korsteel, nor the French link piece. The elliptical joint and the thinner shape of the Bombers Full Cheek Elliptical is more comfortable in his mouth. I rode him a couple days ago, then my trainer rode him today in the Bombers bit, he seemed happy: he was supple in turning, he didn't chew on this bit, and he he didn't push it around with his tongue.

So far this has made a WORLD of difference for my horse. He is a pretty head strong individual and we were riding on a French link roller D ring and he would just bull doze through me. I wanted something that was still gentle but maybe add just a little more respect. He seems to really like this bit. He stays calm, keeps his head down but I only have to give a gentle reminder when he tries to push through me and immediately backs off. But its not so severe its mean and he isn't upset by it.
